At a time when many of us despair the loss of long-cherished rights, we offer hope by helping all Americans assert the rights they have under their state constitutions.

Our Purpose

State constitutional rights made visible and usable.

Following the original intent of our Nation’s Founders, StatesRise is building a movement across the political spectrum to invoke state constitutions as primary protectors of the rights of everyone within each state’s borders.

StatesRise works by networking scholars, litigators, activists, policymakers, and influencers to nurture a new national conversation about states as primary protectors of human rights, and by translating those ideas into public debate and popular action.

What StatesRise Does

Build the network. Move the ideas into public life.

Network

We connect scholars, litigators, activists, policymakers, and influencers to nurture a new national conversation about states as primary protectors of human rights.

We empower these nationwide thought leaders to interact with one another as never before, to meet, share ideas, and together create new ways for states to protect rights now under assault.

Translate

We then translate those new ideas into public debate and popular action. In coalition with state and local human rights activists, we share those ideas with the American public, and we apply them creatively to state and local courtroom, legislative, and protest efforts to protect rights through the power of state constitutions.

We do this by sharing those ideas with grassroots human rights campaigns in specific states and localities, using social and traditional media, and participating in conferences and meetings to spread the word about the importance of state constitutional protections of human rights.
